OUR STORY

Bright past, better future

The first time I wrote down “Ovative” was on a bar napkin. I’d been inspired by the word, “innovative,” and it now serves as the constant undercurrent of our culture. The URL was also available for 99 cents, which was a factor…

In my experience leading Target.com and Target’s guest data strategy, I was frustrated that the proudly proclaimed marketing metrics never tied to the business outcomes we were after: incremental revenue and customer. We built Ovative to connect marketing to these business outcomes. Soon after, we created Enterprise Marketing Return (EMR), a metric and measurement methodology. It’s enabled transparent conversations between marketers and finance and more confident marketing investment decisions—huge unlocks for companies that are looking for new sustainable growth levers.

I’m fascinated by great teams and organizations. What enables them to thrive when so many don’t? Each day, I’m inspired to lead the puzzle of people, values, mindsets, skillsets, strategies, priorities, and fun that create the magic of Ovative. Together, we thoughtfully and intentionally bring our mission of “Fearlessly Unlocking Potential” to life. We focus on “we” rather than “me.”

We believe that marketing can transform your business—drive more revenue, strengthen your customer file, and build your brand—and we, the change-makers, can help you do it. Let’s make it so.

Our beloved mascot, the octopus

This mighty creature holds more meaning for Ovative than you might think. It can solve problems, predict, remember, use tools, and move each one of its suction cups independently. It has three hearts and even has brain function in each arm. But, here’s what we admire most: its capacity to adapt and make the most of every situation, using its appendages and skills to interact with the world in new and different ways. We boldly and proudly stand behind the wonder of the octopus.
